A Facelift for Cedarwood A

Before

After

"After" features bunk beds donated by Trevecca Nazarene University. Thank you!  We changed out the old lighting to sleek LEDs, resurfaced the floor, and rearranged bunks so that we increase our capacity by two beds! Every extra bed is needed during summer camps with our largest groups. Shout out to CGC's Ben Albertson for the concept and for making it happen on a shoestring budget! When you see Ben tell him "Thanks!"

What about Cedarwood side B? It's on the agenda!

Update on the Snack Shack Relocation and the New Snack Shack Pavilion

Looking out the new serving windows toward the current Dining Hall. Almost ready for the soft-serve machine and all the other equipment that makes yumminess.

Focused on the fire suppression system in the background. This is where the magic happens with the french fries and hamburgers.

Everybody knows you can't have a Snack Shack without a Pavilion!. The pavilion dresses up the area around Springfield (formerly Redbud). The new structure is located immediately south of the New Snack Shack location. Next on the agenda? Tables and benches!

Dining Hall

  • The camp has the full green light to begin digging for Dining Hall construction! What has been a dream before is now reality.
  • When the Dining Hall is completed, we will be able to seat about 620 people! With a facility this size, taking into account the natural turnover of people finishing their meal as new people enter, we can handle a group of 800 easily.
  • The Dining Hall is a $2.2 million project. $1.5 million has been donated. $700K will be left in a mortgage, unless other donations come in between now and the time we take out the mortgage.

Is TBAM Ready for the New Dining Hall?

  • TBAM was designed to fund payment on the mortgage of the new Dining Hall. (See bullet 3 above under "Dining Hall.")
  • The mortgage is expected to be right at $5K each month, and TBAM donors are currently giving about $1K per month. Thus, TBAM does not presently meet our need.
  • But we still have time! To increase our TBAM base by 75% would handle the mortgage payment. At $10 per person per month, that's an addition 500 new club members. This is a God-sized goal!
  • If you are not a TBAM Club member, now is an opportune time to join. Would you prayerfully consider joining TBAM and help us pay for the new Dining Hall?

Impact of the January Ice Storm at CGC

Our five families who live on CGC campus weathered the storm and cold temperatures. We were all battling to keep our residences up to the 40's due to the 2 day+ power outage. During that outage, we all shared some meals at the Dining Hall thanks to Rusty's skills and access to cooking with gas. It was good fellowship.

When we were able to evaluate the grounds we found extensive damage to Johnson Lodge and the Tabernacle! During a time of year when our income is down we took on unexpected expenses of around $40K.

At Johnson Lodge, the power outage caused our dry sprinkler system to lose pressure in the lines, so the pipes filled with water. In the freezing temperatures, our black pipe that runs on the exterior of the building ruptured severely. While the the sprinkler system remained unavailable due to this damage, we were required to hire a "fire watcher" any time employees or guests were inside Johnson. The repairs are scheduled to be completed around 2/20/26.

The Tabernacle has a metal roof and four inches of ice formed between the ribbing of the roof. As it thawed, very heavy sheets of ice slid down the roof into the gutters. All gutters will need to be replaced.

TBAM Is More Important than Ever

The Ten Bucks a Month Club (TBAM) is an important part of funding the new Dining Hall. It is the plan for servicing the expected $500+K mortgage on a $2M building.

If you have waited to join in support of our new Dining Hall, today is a great time to get on board.

Pray for the CGC staff and their families. The campground is a beautiful, serene place, yet our enemy is relentless in his attack of all ministry. We have challenges with the staff’s health. We continue with a razor thin cash flow margin. Your prayer is sustaining.

Pray for God's blessing as we proceed through the construction of the new Dining Hall.

Pray that God will raise up donors to support CGC. The focus is always on the people to whom we minister. Funding is lower in priority than success in our mission, yet it’s clear without funding from faithful donors we are thwarted in reaching God’s vision for the campground. It takes a combination of one time gifts and regular monthly giving.

Pray that God will call people to be part of the Ten Bucks a Month club. It's our primary way to pay the mortgage when that time comes.
