God provides for His purposes in a variety of ways.  It's impossible to pin God down and say,

"This is how it's done."

A CHALLENGE TO PRAY TOGETHER

by Finley Knowles

Bob McKenzie, CGC's Chaplain who leads our Prayer Team, pressed me. Bob said, "If CGC has things they need, why don't you let God's people know about them? People enjoy giving when they are meeting a specific need. People definitely won't give if they don't know you need it."

I will update and publish this list in each BULLET POINTS publication.

Be prayerful and keep yours eyes open for:

  • Pickup truck for our maintenance department (daily use) We are making an offer of $10K for a truck that just became available!
  • Bobcat/Skidsteer – this is a big piece of equipment that is critical in helping us manage the creek rock as well as countless grounds applications. (used 3-4 days a week)
  • Access (not ownership) to an excavator with a grapple. This goes a long way to help us deal with the lifecycle of our mature trees and wooded areas. It also is a necessary part of maintaining our creek. We can A LOT in a few hours. (6-12 days/year)
  • 4,200 sq. ft. of NuCore Ashen Oak vinyl flooring for the two meeting rooms in in the lower level of Johnson Lodge. Since the flood last year, we have been living on concrete. We have $9,700 to go toward the total cost of $14,500.
  • Two well-maintained golf cart of any type or age. The floods have always taken out golf carts, and something else always take priority when it comes to replacing them.
  • Rollup garage doors for the Youth Chapel. All but the shell of the Westmoreland Youth Chapel was destroyed in the 2021 flood. It was a significant meeting space for groups between 75-200, and we are missing it. There's an idea to use garage doors to replace the side walls. We would leave the doors up any time we don't have a group using it. Future flood waters would simple flow through it, and with a good pressure washing, we would be ready to go!

This Is Happening! Maplewood Dorm makes way for a 2-story Cabin

The goal is for the new cabin to be ready

by the end of January 2023.

The excavator showed up on Monday morning, and Maplewood was down by lunchtime.

Thank you MidSouth Family Camp

for the special offerings you gave to repair our flood-damaged Ziplines.

The Ziplines will be repaired in September

It took us several months to get on the schedule of Edgie Designs who installed our zipline way back when and who inspects our zipline each year so we can keep it in tip-top shape.  To get our zipline back in operation, the 3 poles have to be reset and the lines must be recalibrated.

The repair will be made toward the end of September, and the zipline will be ready to go for Fall retreats and next Summer Camps!

Our 2021 flood washed away a couple of dump truck loads of dirt from around the termination poles. The poles will be reset, the cables recalibrated, and a concrete barrier will be added to protect against this happening again.

Followup

In the March 11, 2022 edition of BULLET POINTS, I reported about the donation of food service equipment from Trevecca Nazarene University. Below is a picture of the new equipment in use at August's District Advisory Council and Board retreat. Such an improvement over the "rubbermaid-looking" salad bar.

We still await a case worker before our SBA funding can be scheduled.

We continue to wait on the results of our appeal for funding. We were declared an ineligible facility after a year of working through the process. Please pray for a favorable result.
